KDF Championships

Today we took a small squad to the KDF Championships. Jack was taking part in his first competition. He was unlucky in the first round of the kata when nerves took over but Jack did very well to step on the mat and give it his best. Next Jack stepped back on the mat for his first kumite fight. After a very energetic bout no points were scored and Jack lost on decision. Good first competition result, especially not conceding any points. Very well done Jack. Katy was up next wi...th a big challenge ahead. Katy being one of the smallest in the group did well to get some early points on the board with a jodan kick to make it 3-0. The girl then came back and made the most of her size advantage. Katy carried on bravely fighting but had to withdraw towards the end of the fight. Even without victory Katy is showing great improvement from each competition to the next. Finally we had Olly. Olly's first opponent proved to be difficult, with Olly struggling to find his range. Olly overcome this opponent and moved on to look much more comfortable in his semi final fight. After winning this Olly found his range in the final and scored some great points winning 4-0 and taking home the gold ! Even with a slow start Olly managed to not concede a point all day. Well done everyone there were a lot of positives to take from today, keep up the hard work.
